Augusta Map Poster & Print
Augusta sits on the south bank of the Savannah River, across from South Carolina. The historic downtown is a regular grid of long streets running parallel to the river, with Broad Street at its centre and the Riverwalk along the levee. Beyond it, the city spreads west and south into wide suburban districts.
One of the clearest lines on the map is the Augusta Canal, built in the nineteenth century to power mills and still flowing beside the river. To the west lies Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters Tournament each April. The city is also closely associated with James Brown, who grew up here.
An Augusta map poster shows a city built around water: the broad curve of the river, the thin canal running alongside it, and the orderly grid that reaches back from the banks towards the higher ground of the Hill district.
