Terrain-led streets
The streets bend and branch to follow the slope of the ground. The result is a town plan with almost no straight lines, which gives the poster an organic feel.

Baijia Map Poster & Print
Baijia is a town in Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country of the Sichuan Basin's eastern edge. The terrain shapes almost everything about the map. Roads follow valleys and ridgelines instead of running straight, and buildings cluster where the ground is level enough to build on. The result is an irregular, organic town shape with few straight lines.
Around the town, the countryside is a mix of steep slopes, farmland and small settlements connected by narrow roads. This part of Chongqing has been farmed intensively for a long time, and the land is marked by field boundaries that follow the contours of the hills. The main roads through Baijia bend to fit the terrain.
A Baijia map poster shows a place defined by its hills. Curving streets and a compact built-up area sit inside a landscape of roads that twist through the countryside. It is an intricate, organic composition, and it suits people with family roots in rural Chongqing.

Compact centre
Buildings cluster tightly where the land is level enough to build on. This creates a dense core that stands out clearly against the more open hillsides.
Winding country roads
Narrow roads wind out through the hills to neighbouring villages. They fill the outer part of the map with long, loose curves.
