Būndu lies on the Chota Nagpur Plateau in Jharkhand, southeast of Ranchi, on the main road that links the state capital with Jamshedpur. That road is the backbone of the map. The town's market and main streets gather along it, and smaller lanes branch off toward houses, fields and nearby villages.
The land around the town is a rolling plateau of paddy fields, patches of forest and low, rocky rises, crossed by seasonal streams. On a map, this gives Būndu a loose, open edge. Built-up blocks thin quickly into scattered hamlets and farm tracks, so the town reads as a clear cluster in a wide landscape.
