Terrain-shaped streets
Roads follow the contours of the hills, so the streets of Caijia curve and branch in response to the land rather than forming a grid.

Caijia Map Poster & Print
Caijia is a town in the Chongqing municipality, in the rugged hill country of southwestern China. The terrain is steep and deeply folded, and the built-up area is shaped by it. Streets bend to follow slopes and valleys, and development gathers on the more level ground rather than spreading evenly in all directions.
Like many towns across Chongqing's outer districts, Caijia has grown in recent decades, with newer roads and residential blocks extending from its older centre. Small rivers and streams wind through the landscape, and the network of country roads linking outlying villages draws irregular lines across the hillsides.
A Caijia map poster shows how a town adapts to difficult ground. The curving main streets, the concentrated centre and the fine tracery of rural roads combine into a composition that is irregular yet balanced. It is a quiet, personal map, most meaningful to those who have lived in or come from the town.

Growing town centre
The densest part of the map is the older centre, with newer blocks and roads extending outward along the more level ground.
Winding waterways
Streams and small rivers trace curving lines through the surrounding countryside, adding soft, natural shapes to the edges of the poster.
