Caotang Map Poster & Print
Caotang lies in the mountains of eastern Chongqing, in the region of the upper Yangtze known for the Three Gorges. On a map the town is shaped almost entirely by relief: streets squeeze along the narrow valley floors, and buildings follow the slope where the land allows. There is little room for a regular grid, so the pattern that emerges is linear and branching.
Around the built-up area, the lines thin out into winding mountain roads that switch back as they climb, and small streams feed down toward larger waterways. It is the kind of place where terrain decides everything, and the street plan reads almost like a trace of the watercourses that carved these valleys.
A Caotang map poster shows that relationship in plain black and white: a compact settlement stretched between hillsides, with roads looping outward in response to the land. It suits anyone with a connection to this corner of Chongqing, or anyone who simply likes maps where geography, rather than planning, sets the lines.

Switchback roads
Beyond the centre, roads wind across steep slopes in tight curves, drawing loose loops that give the edges of the poster movement and texture.
