Chambly Map Poster & Print
Chambly lies on the Richelieu River south-east of Montreal, where the river widens into the Chambly Basin after a stretch of rapids. On a map the water takes up a large share of the frame. The basin is a broad, rounded shape, and the town's streets fill the land along its western shore. Residential streets curve through the neighbourhoods, and older roads run along the riverbank.
Fort Chambly, a stone fort built by the French in the early eighteenth century, stands on the riverbank at the foot of the rapids and is now a national historic site. The Chambly Canal starts nearby and runs south beside the river toward Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, getting boats around the rapids through a series of locks.
A Chambly map poster brings together the basin, the fort's point and the thin line of the canal. It is a good fit for anyone who knows the town from the water, the towpath or the old stone walls.

Fort on the rapids
Fort Chambly stands on the shore where the rapids end. The small point of land it occupies is one of the most recognisable details along the riverbank.
Chambly Canal
The canal leaves the basin and runs south alongside the river. Its narrow, straight channel sits next to the natural, winding course of the Richelieu.
