Chapel Allerton lies a few kilometres north of Leeds city centre, on higher ground along the main road toward Harrogate. It began as a separate village and was absorbed into the city as it grew, and its centre still has the feel of a village high street, with shops, cafés and bars gathered around a few junctions.
