Colombia is a town in Las Tunas Province in eastern Cuba, the seat of a municipality of the same name. The landscape around it is low and largely flat, given over to farming, and from above the town appears as a neat, rectangular pattern of streets set in the middle of open agricultural land.
Like many towns in this part of Cuba, its economy has been closely tied to sugar cane and cattle, and the surrounding countryside is divided into large fields crossed by straight rural roads. The name often surprises visitors, since it is shared with a country on the other side of the Caribbean.
