Cypress is a large unincorporated community in Harris County, northwest of Houston. Its map looks nothing like an old city grid. Instead it is a patchwork of master-planned neighbourhoods, each with its own curving streets, loops and cul-de-sacs, separated by wide arterial roads.
US 290 runs diagonally through the area toward Houston, and the Grand Parkway, State Highway 99, curves along the western side. Cypress Creek winds eastward through the area in a green, wooded corridor, and it is one of the few natural lines on a map that is mostly planned.
Newer communities such as Bridgeland and Towne Lake add lakes and trail networks to the pattern. A Cypress map poster turns that suburban geometry into something surprisingly graphic, with repeating loops that read almost like a textile.
