Dashan Map Poster & Print
Dashan is in southwestern Yunnan, in mountain country that runs south toward the borders with Myanmar and Laos. The land here is rarely flat. From above, the town sits along whatever level ground the valley offers, and its streets curve to follow slopes and watercourses instead of running in a grid.
This part of Yunnan is known for tea growing and for its many ethnic communities, and the hillsides around towns like Dashan are often shaped by cultivation. Detailed information on the town itself is scarce outside China, so the map is the most honest portrait available: a settlement fitted into the landscape.
In monochrome, the winding roads and the small, dense centre stand out against the empty space of the hills. A Dashan map poster shows a place shaped by terrain, and it looks especially good in the Paper and Blueprint styles, where the fine curving lines come through clearly.

Roads that follow contours
Routes into and out of town bend and switch back with the hillsides. They draw long, loose curves across the sheet instead of straight lines.
Mountain setting
Steep, largely unbuilt terrain surrounds the town on every side. On the poster it becomes generous open space that frames the settlement.
