Terrain-led streets
Roads bend to follow slopes and valley floors instead of forming a grid. This gives the poster flowing, irregular lines that reflect the shape of the land beneath them.

Dongyang Map Poster & Print
Dongyang lies within the Chongqing municipality in southwestern China, north of the city's central districts. This is hilly country. The land folds into ridges and valleys, and rivers cut deep channels through it. Streets rarely run straight for long. They follow contours, switch back up slopes and gather wherever the terrain allows a little flat ground.
Chongqing is well known for being built on hills and rivers, with urban areas stacked up steep slopes and roads looping over and around one another. Dongyang shares that general character on a smaller scale. Its layout is a response to the landscape rather than to a plan imposed on it.
A Dongyang map poster makes this relationship visible. Roads curve and branch, blocks vary in shape and size, and the open or wooded ground between built-up areas marks the high points. In black and white, the organic pattern reads almost like contour lines, a portrait of a place fitted closely into the hills.

Hilly surroundings
Steep ground separates the built-up areas. On the map it appears as open space between clusters of streets, which adds rhythm and contrast to the composition.
Chongqing setting
Dongyang sits within a municipality known for its mountainous, river-cut landscape. A wider view places the town in that rugged regional context.
