East Ridge lies on the southeastern side of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and borders Georgia to the south. Its map is shaped by the ridge-and-valley country typical of this part of the Appalachians. Missionary Ridge runs along the western side as a long wooded spine, and the town fills the valley floor to the east.
Residential streets follow the valley in long parallel lines, with shorter cross streets connecting them. Interstate 75 cuts through the area on its way to Atlanta, and its junction with Interstate 24 lies nearby. Together they form the strongest lines on the map and mark East Ridge as a gateway into Chattanooga from the south.
