Valley-bound streets
The town's streets gather on the flatter valley ground, so the built-up area stretches out in elongated shapes rather than forming a round or square centre.

Ganshui Map Poster & Print
Ganshui is a town in Qijiang District, in the southern part of Chongqing municipality near the border with Guizhou. The landscape here is strongly hilly, and on a map this shows at once: the built-up area does not spread evenly but follows valley floors and gentler slopes, while the roads between settlements twist to follow the contours of the ridges.
The result is an irregular, organic street pattern. Instead of a grid you see compact clusters of streets, roads that bend back on themselves as they climb, and routes that thread through narrow gaps in the terrain. Waterways and transport lines tend to share the same valleys, which is typical of this mountainous corner of southwest China.
A Ganshui map poster captures that relationship between terrain and settlement without needing any contour lines. The shapes of the streets alone suggest the hills around them. In black and white, the town reads as a small, dense knot of lines held in place by the landscape, a different picture from the broad plains of many Chinese cities.

Winding hill roads
Roads leaving the town curve sharply as they follow the slopes, and these looping lines give the edges of the map much of their character.
Shared transport corridors
Roads and waterways squeeze through the same gaps in the terrain, so the main routes cluster together and trace the natural passages through the hills.
