Triangular Markt
The market square is an unmistakable wedge at the centre of the old town, with the city hall standing alone inside it. It is the natural focal point of the poster.

Gouda Map Poster & Print
Gouda grew where the small Gouwe river meets the Hollandse IJssel, and water still shapes its map. The historic centre is a compact oval. Canals run through it and a ring of singels, the old moat-like waterways, runs around it. Narrow streets follow the canal lines, and bridges cross them at short intervals, so the old town looks like a set of islands.
At the centre is the Markt, a large triangular square with the free-standing Gothic city hall in the middle, one of the oldest in the Netherlands. The town is known worldwide for the cheese named after it, traditionally weighed and traded here. Nearby stands Sint-Janskerk, the long church famous for its sixteenth-century stained glass windows.
A Gouda map poster shows how a medieval Dutch town was built around water. In monochrome the canals and singels appear as clean double lines, the Markt as a distinct triangle, and the newer districts beyond the ring as a more regular pattern. It is a small, finely detailed map that rewards a close look.

Canals and singels
Inner canals cross the centre and a ring of waterways encloses it. Together they draw a clear boundary between the medieval core and the later town.
Gouwe and Hollandse IJssel
The two rivers meet at the southern edge of the old town. The wider IJssel gives the composition a strong horizontal line along its lower side.
