Gürsu lies just east of Bursa, in northwestern Turkey. From above, it is close to the city's expanding urban area, and the boundary is not always easy to see. The town spreads across the edge of the fertile Bursa plain and rises gradually toward the lower slopes of Uludağ, the mountain that dominates the region to the south.
The street pattern shows a mix of older settlement and newer development. Denser clusters of streets sit at the centre, and more regular blocks extend outward. Around them, agricultural land and orchards cover the plain and the lower slopes. Major roads link Gürsu to Bursa and the surrounding districts.
