Guxi is a town in the western part of Chongqing municipality, in the rolling hills at the eastern edge of the Sichuan Basin. The land here is shaped by low ridges and valleys, and roads and streets have to work around them. On a map, that means very few straight lines: most routes bend and branch, adapting to the ground.
The town itself is compact, with a dense core surrounded by fields and scattered villages. Terraced farmland appears as open space broken only by winding tracks, so the town stands out clearly against its surroundings.
