Hopin is a town in Kachin State in northern Myanmar, on the railway line between Myitkyina and Mandalay. On a map the settlement stretches along the tracks and main road. It forms a narrow, elongated shape through the valley instead of a round centre.
The town is known as the usual starting point for travel to Indawgyi Lake, one of the largest natural lakes in Myanmar, which lies to the west. The area around Hopin is hilly and green, with farmland on the flatter ground and forest on the slopes.
