Hulbuk Map Poster & Print
Hulbuk lies in Khatlon Province in southern Tajikistan, not far from Kulob, in lowland country watered by rivers coming down from the mountains to the north. Its name recalls the medieval city of Hulbuk, once a seat of the rulers of Khuttal. The excavated citadel of that city is one of the best-known archaeological sites in the region.
The modern town largely follows a regular pattern of streets and blocks, with wide roads, courtyards and garden plots. Around it, irrigation canals divide the land into long fields. Their straight lines and the field boundaries give the countryside a precise, almost ruled look that contrasts with the hills rising in the distance.
A Hulbuk map poster places this orderly town against the wider farmland and the foothills beyond. It is a quiet, geometric image of Central Asian farmland. For anyone with ties to Khatlon, it is also a link to a place whose name reaches back roughly a thousand years.

Irrigation canals
Canals and ditches cut through the surrounding fields in long straight lines, dividing the lowland into strips and giving the edges of the map their structure.
Historic name
The town takes its name from medieval Hulbuk, capital of Khuttal, whose citadel ruins are among southern Tajikistan's most studied archaeological sites.
