Valley floor
Most of the town is packed onto the flat ground of the valley, so streets run in long bands that follow the land rather than a planned grid.

Ibara Map Poster & Print
Ibara sits in the hill country of western Okayama, where the land folds into narrow valleys and the flat ground is precious. From above, the town reads as a band of dense streets along the valley bottom, with roads and a rail line threading through and smaller settlements scattered up the side valleys. The hills around it show up as blank space, which gives the built area a clear outline.
The town is best known for denim. Ibara has long been one of Japan's centres for weaving, dyeing and sewing jeans, and much of that work happened in small workshops rather than large plants. On a map this suits the town well: a fine, even grain of streets and lots, with no single district dominating, and industry mixed quietly among houses and farmland.
An Ibara map poster keeps things simple: the curve of the valley, the lines of road and rail following it, and the pale mass of the hills. It suits a room that likes quiet detail, and it rewards a closer look, because the pattern of lanes changes as the ground rises from the valley floor toward the surrounding slopes.

Rail and road
A rail line and main roads run through the valley side by side, drawing the long straight strokes that hold the composition together.
Surrounding hills
Forested slopes close in on all sides and appear as open space, giving the built area a sharp, organic edge against the paper.
