Tapajós waterfront
The wide Tapajós runs along the town's edge, a broad river that dominates the poster and makes the street grid look small beside it.

Itaituba Map Poster & Print
Itaituba lies in western Pará, on the left bank of the Tapajós River, one of the great clear-water tributaries of the Amazon. The river dominates the map, a wide pale band along the edge of town that is far broader than any street. The city itself stretches along the bank in a long strip, with a grid of blocks extending inland from the waterfront.
Itaituba is a crossroads of river and road. The Trans-Amazonian Highway reaches the Tapajós here, with the settlement of Miritituba on the opposite bank, where grain terminals have been built in recent years. The town is also known as a centre of gold prospecting in the Tapajós basin, and Amazônia National Park protects a large area of forest nearby.
An Itaituba map poster shows a town at the edge of an immense landscape. The grid of streets gives way to the sweep of the river on one side and to the forest and the long line of the highway on the others. It is a strong, simple composition, where the scale of the Amazon is felt in all that open space.

Trans-Amazonian crossing
The BR-230 highway reaches the river at Itaituba, with Miritituba on the far bank, giving the map a long straight road that ends at the water.
Riverside grid
Streets run parallel and perpendicular to the bank, forming a regular grid of blocks that extends inland before the forest takes over.
