Contour-following roads
Because of the steep ground, roads bend and loop around the hills. On the poster, this gives the town a flowing, organic pattern instead of a rigid grid.

Jiangnan Map Poster & Print
Jiangnan is a locality within Chongqing municipality in south-western China. The name means south of the river, a common place name in a region shaped by the Yangtze and its tributaries. Like much of Chongqing, the terrain here is hilly. Roads wind with the contours instead of running straight, and buildings cluster where the ground allows.
From above, the settlement looks like a series of built-up pockets connected by curving roads, with farmland, terraces and wooded slopes in between. Water is never far away in this part of China, and river channels and valleys give the map its main lines. Newer roads with gentle curves pass through older, tighter street patterns.
A Jiangnan map poster captures the typical Chongqing mix of hills, water and dense building, on a smaller and quieter scale. The irregular street layout creates an organic, almost topographic pattern that works well in minimalist design. It is a map for people with a personal connection to this corner of the municipality.

River influence
As the name suggests, the place is defined by its position relative to a river. Water channels and valleys provide the strongest lines in the composition.
Clustered building
Dense built-up areas sit on the flatter patches of land, separated by open slopes, which gives the map a rhythm of detail and space.
