Wide urban grid
The main roads cross at right angles and frame large blocks, giving the centre of the map a clear, almost diagrammatic structure typical of plains towns.

Juye Map Poster & Print
Juye lies in the southwest of Shandong, within Heze prefecture, on some of the flattest ground in China. From above there is almost no relief to interrupt the lines: the town grows as a grid of wide roads, and around it the land breaks into long, narrow fields, village clusters and drainage channels that run with the same patient regularity.
The name recalls the Great Ye Marsh, a vast body of water that once covered much of this area before centuries of silt from the Yellow River filled it in. Juye also appears in modern history through the Juye Incident of 1897, when the killing of two German missionaries was used by Germany as a pretext to seize Jiaozhou Bay.
A Juye map poster turns this open plain into a graphic study. The town centre reads as a dense block of streets, while the surrounding countryside becomes a fine texture of field boundaries and small settlements. It is an understated subject, but one with a long story beneath its level surface.

Field patterns
Around the town the farmland divides into long strips and rectangles, creating a fine linear texture that fills the edges of the poster.
Former marshland
The flat terrain was once part of the Great Ye Marsh, and the drainage channels crossing the plain are a quiet trace of that watery past.
