Kampung Ayer Molek is a community inland from the historic centre of Melaka, in the southern part of the Malay Peninsula. On a map it shows the mixed pattern typical of the Melaka suburbs: older village lanes following the land, alongside newer housing estates with regular, looped street layouts.
Green space is common. Plantations, orchards and patches of vegetation fill the gaps between the built-up areas, and small streams drain the gently rolling ground toward the coast. Main roads connect the kampung to Melaka city, whose old core around the river mouth has been part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008, listed together with George Town.
