Kandhkot is in northern Sindh, in Kashmore district, on the plain west of the Indus. The land is level and cultivated. From above, the town is a dense core of streets with irrigated fields spreading out from it in every direction, crossed by canals and straight farm tracks.
The district is known for the Kandhkot gas field, one of the country's established sources of natural gas, and the local economy combines farming with that industry. Roads lead out toward Kashmore, Jacobabad and the river crossings further east.
