Kangle is a town in the eastern part of Chongqing municipality, in the rugged country around the Yangtze's Three Gorges region. The terrain dominates the map. Hills rise quickly on all sides, and the town fits into the lower, flatter ground between them.
From above, the roads bend instead of running straight. They follow contour lines, loop back on themselves to climb, and meet in the valley where the buildings cluster most closely. Farm terraces and scattered hamlets cover the slopes, each reached by its own winding lane.
