Dnieper reservoir
The broad expanse of the Dnieper dominates the eastern side of the map. Its wide surface and scattered islands make a strong, open counterpoint to the hilly town.

Kaniv Map Poster & Print
Kaniv sits on the right bank of the Dnieper in Cherkasy Oblast, where the river widens into the Kaniv Reservoir. From above, the water fills a large part of the frame. The town itself is spread across hills and gullies, so its streets bend and branch instead of forming a grid. Wooded slopes separate one neighbourhood from another.
Just south of the centre is Chernecha Hill, now known as Taras Hill, where the poet Taras Shevchenko is buried. His grave and memorial make Kaniv one of the most important places in Ukrainian culture. A hydroelectric dam upstream of the town and the protected forests of the Kaniv Nature Reserve are also part of the wider landscape.
A Kaniv map poster shows how land and water shape each other here. The high, broken bank of the Dnieper creates a varied street pattern, while the reservoir and islands form large, calm areas of open space. The result is a print that feels both natural and deeply connected to the country's history.

Taras Hill
The hill where Taras Shevchenko is buried rises above the river south of the centre. Its park and memorial grounds appear as a green, open area in the street network.
Ravines and slopes
Deep gullies cut the right bank into separate ridges. Streets follow them in curves and forks, giving Kaniv an irregular, organic plan unlike a flatland town.

ለምን Kaniv
ትርጉም ያለው ካርታ
Kaniv matters to many Ukrainians because of Shevchenko, and to many others because it is home, a summer place on the river or a family origin. A poster of its bank and reservoir is a meaningful piece for a study, a gift or a new home abroad.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a line from a poem or a date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Get the $9 HD files in six sizes, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
