Khair lies in Aligarh district in western Uttar Pradesh, on the fertile plain between the Ganges and Yamuna rivers known as the Doab. The land is very flat and intensively farmed, so the map around the town is a fine pattern of fields, village roads and small settlements. Khair itself appears as a dense, irregular cluster in the middle.
