Kheri is a town in the Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh. By area this is the largest district in the state, and it lies on the plains near the border with Nepal. The ground here is almost completely flat. On the map the town appears as a dense cluster of lanes and small blocks surrounded by open farmland.
The district is known for sugarcane, which covers much of the surrounding countryside. It is also known for Dudhwa National Park to the north, a protected area of the Terai where tigers, swamp deer and one-horned rhinoceros live. Kheri sits a short distance from Lakhimpur, the district headquarters, and a road links the two.
