Kornwestheim Map Poster & Print
Kornwestheim lies just north of Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg, on the flat, fertile land of the Neckar basin. It grew quickly in the twentieth century as an industrial and railway town. The Salamander shoe company was based here for many years, and the town hall and its water tower were designed by the architect Paul Bonatz.
The most striking feature on the map is the huge railway marshalling yard, a long bundle of parallel tracks along one side of the town. Next to it, residential streets form a fairly regular grid, with fields and orchards beyond. The contrast between the dense rail lines and the ordinary street pattern gives the map a strong graphic character.
A Kornwestheim map poster works well for anyone who grew up here, commutes through it, or is interested in railways and industrial towns. The long lines of track are rare on a city map and make a distinctive print.

Town grid
Next to the tracks, a mostly regular pattern of residential streets fills the town. That shows its twentieth-century growth as a workers' and industrial town.
Field edges
Around the town, farm roads and open fields separate Kornwestheim from its neighbours, giving the map clear edges and a sense of the flat Neckar landscape.
