Las Tejerías lies in a narrow valley in the state of Aragua, between Caracas and the central cities of Venezuela. On a map the town is long and thin, following the valley floor where streets run alongside the river and the Autopista Regional del Centro, with steep hills rising on both sides.
Its name refers to tile works, recalling an older local craft. Today the town is closely tied to the highway and the traffic between the capital and the interior. In October 2022 heavy rains caused a deadly flood and landslide here, a reminder of how closely the town depends on its steep setting.
