Liuji Map Poster & Print
Liuji lies in the north of Jiangsu province, in the Xuzhou area, on the broad plain that stretches across this part of eastern China. The land is almost completely flat and heavily cultivated. From above, the town is a compact cluster of streets set among fields divided into long, regular strips by roads and drainage channels.
The flat terrain gives the whole landscape a geometric character. Straight roads connect the town to surrounding villages and to Xuzhou, and irrigation and drainage channels run in parallel lines across the fields. Small ponds and village clusters are scattered between them, each surrounded by its own ring of trees and plots.
A Liuji map poster shows how the North China Plain is organised: a dense centre, straight connecting roads and a patchwork of rectangular fields that stretches to every edge. It is a quiet, orderly map with a surprising amount of rhythm in its repeated lines.

Straight roads
Roads run in long, direct lines across the flat land toward nearby villages and Xuzhou. They form a clear framework for the whole composition.
Field patterns
Rectangular fields and drainage channels cover the surrounding countryside. Their repeated geometry gives the map a calm, almost textile-like texture.
