Long Eaton Map Poster & Print
Long Eaton lies in the far southeast of Derbyshire, close to where the Erewash meets the River Trent and just across the county boundary from Nottingham. Most of the town is laid out in dense grids of terraced streets. The Erewash Canal runs along its western side, and several railway lines cross the town, cutting it into distinct quarters.
In the nineteenth century, Long Eaton became a centre for lace manufacturing. Large brick mills still stand beside the canal and railways, and many have been converted to other uses. Later, the town was known for upholstery and furniture making. To the south, Trent Lock marks the meeting of the canal and the river, a popular spot for walks and boats.
The Long Eaton map poster shows a typical English industrial town built on flat ground by the river. Terraced streets fill most of the frame, the canal and railways draw long, clean lines through them, and the wide floodplain of the Trent opens up to the south.

Terraced grid
Rows of Victorian and Edwardian terraces create a dense, regular texture across the town. On the poster, this reads as a fine woven pattern.
Rail lines
Several railway lines cross the town and meet to the south. Their curves and junctions divide the street grid into clearly defined sections.
