Luodian Map Poster & Print
Luodian is a town in Baoshan District, in the northern part of Shanghai, not far from the Yangtze estuary. From above, it is a mix of older settlement, newer residential estates and waterways typical of the flat Yangtze delta. Small canals and streams cross the area, and the town has grown into the wider fabric of Shanghai while keeping its own distinct centre.
Luodian is known for its North European new town, a planned district built in the 2000s with architecture inspired by Scandinavian design, complete with lakes and canals. The area also saw heavy fighting during the Battle of Shanghai in 1937. Today it combines suburban development with remnants of its older, water-shaped landscape.
A Luodian map poster shows how carefully planned new districts and older delta waterways sit side by side. The curving lakes and channels of the Nordic-style area contrast with the straighter roads of the surrounding estates, and the fine lines of canals thread through the whole map. It is a small but unusual piece of greater Shanghai.

Delta waterways
Small canals and streams cross the flat terrain, reflecting the typical landscape of the Yangtze delta and drawing thin, winding lines across the map.
Shanghai's north edge
Luodian sits in Baoshan District, where the suburban growth of Shanghai meets older towns, so the map shows a mix of new estates and older settlements.
