Malingshan is a town in the north of Jiangsu province, in the Xinyi area of Xuzhou. Its name comes from Maling Mountain, a low hill that stands out in an otherwise mostly level landscape. On the map, the town sits beside that high ground with open farmland stretching around it.
The streets are laid out in a fairly regular pattern, with main roads crossing near the centre and residential blocks between them. Beyond the town, fields divide the plain into orderly plots, and roads and waterways link the town to surrounding villages and to the larger towns of the region.
