Māndal is in Bhilwara district in southern Rajasthan, in the flat, dry country of the Mewar region. Like many towns in the state, it has grown next to a large water tank, a reservoir built to hold monsoon rain, and the tank takes up a large part of the map beside the town.
The older part of the town is a tight network of narrow lanes, alleys and small squares, with no regular grid. Newer streets and scattered buildings spread along the main roads, which lead out to Bhilwara and surrounding villages. Around them lies open farmland crossed by field tracks and small channels.
