Mānsa is the headquarters of Mansa district in southern Punjab, part of the flat, intensively farmed Malwa region. From above, the town is a compact block of streets set in open agricultural land, with a railway line and several main roads cutting through it.
The central area is dense and irregular, with markets and residential lanes packed closely together. Outer districts follow straighter lines, often shaped by the roads and field boundaries that came before them.
