Mārahra is a town in Etah district of western Uttar Pradesh, set in the wide, flat plain between the Ganges and the Yamuna. On a map it appears as a dense, irregular core of narrow lanes, with roads leaving in several directions across farmland. The absence of hills or large rivers means the street pattern itself carries the whole design.
The town is widely known for Marehra Sharif, the seat of the Barkatiya Sufi order, whose dargah and khanqah draw pilgrims from across South Asia, especially during the annual urs.
