Meckenheim Map Poster & Print
Meckenheim is a town in the Rhein-Sieg district of North Rhine-Westphalia, south-west of Bonn. The surrounding countryside is known for fruit growing, particularly apples, and for tree nurseries, which give the landscape around the town a distinctive pattern of rows and plots.
From above, Meckenheim has two distinct parts. The older town, with its irregular historic lanes, lies along the small river Swist, while larger planned residential districts were added later, especially after Bonn became the West German capital and the town grew quickly.
The town also hosts a site of the Federal Criminal Police Office. A Meckenheim map poster shows the contrast between the old core, the post-war expansion and the orderly agricultural landscape of orchards and nurseries that surrounds them both.

Planned districts
Post-war neighbourhoods form larger areas of curving streets and residential closes, reflecting the town's growth during the Bonn capital years.
Orchards and nurseries
Fruit plantations and tree nurseries surround the town in long rows and rectangular plots, giving the edges of the map a fine, regular texture.
