Midlothian is a city in Ellis County, Texas, about twenty-five miles southwest of downtown Dallas. On the map, a small historic downtown sits where roads and railway meet, surrounded by a growing ring of residential subdivisions with curving streets and cul-de-sacs laid out across former farmland.
The town calls itself the Cement Capital of Texas, thanks to the large cement plants that use the limestone found in the area. Major highways including US 287 and US 67 pass through, and their broad lines frame much of the city's newer growth.
