Mont Kiara doesn't use a grid. Its roads follow the hilly ground of northwest Kuala Lumpur, looping around condominium estates, dividing at roundabouts and joining the expressways that pass along its edges. From above the street pattern is made of curves and cul-de-sacs, with large plots of residential towers between them. On a monochrome poster those curves read almost like contour lines.
The district grew from the 1990s onward as a planned residential area. It is now known for its high-rise condominiums, international schools and large expatriate community. Neighbouring Sri Hartamas and Segambut blend into it at the edges. Most daily life happens inside gated developments, shopping malls and the short roads between them. Pedestrian streets are few, so the map is mostly a record of how people drive through the area.
A Mont Kiara map poster suits a place that people usually know from a balcony or a car window. The layout shows the large blocks of towers, the roads curving around the hillsides and the elevated highways along the boundary.
