Mutuáli lies in the interior of Nampula province in northern Mozambique, in a landscape of open savanna, farmland and scattered granite hills. The town is small and follows its transport routes. Houses and plots line the main road and the railway, and a looser pattern of paths extends into the surrounding fields.
