Ngemplak is a district of Boyolali Regency in Central Java, just north of the city of Surakarta, better known as Solo. Its landscape mixes clustered villages, irrigated rice fields and roads that lead into the city. From above, the settlements appear as dense green-and-roof clusters separated by the regular geometry of paddy fields.
Adi Soemarmo International Airport, which serves Solo, lies within the district, and its long runway is the sharpest straight line on the map. To the west rise the volcanoes Merapi and Merbabu, which feed the fertile soils and rivers that water the fields.
A Ngemplak map poster shows peri-urban Java: tightly knit kampung settlements, lanes winding between them, straight irrigation lines and the bold stroke of the runway. The pattern thickens toward Solo in the south and opens toward farmland elsewhere, giving the print a gradual, layered rhythm.
