Odorheiu Secuiesc lies in the upper valley of the Târnava Mare in Harghita County. On a map the river runs through the town, and the streets fan out from it toward the surrounding hills. The town is one of the cultural centres of Székely Land, and most of its residents speak Hungarian. In Hungarian it is called Székelyudvarhely.
