Oktyabrsky Map Poster & Print
Oktyabrsky lies in western Bashkortostan on the Ik River, which here forms the border with Tatarstan. The city was founded in the 1940s after the discovery of the Tuymazy oil field, one of the first major fields in the Volga–Ural region, and it grew quickly as a workers' town. That origin shows on the map as a deliberate layout of broad avenues and large residential blocks rather than an old, irregular core.
The centre is organised around straight streets that meet at clear intersections. Soviet microdistricts of apartment buildings are grouped around courtyards and schools. To the west, the Ik River curls through a wide valley, and its meanders and floodplain meadows supply the only flowing lines. An Oktyabrsky map poster shows this clean contrast between planned town and natural river.
Beyond the built-up area, roads and service tracks spread across gently rolling country toward villages and oil installations. Even in black and white, the order of the post-war plan is obvious. That makes Oktyabrsky a clear example of how the oil industry shaped the towns of the Volga–Ural region in the mid-twentieth century.

Ik River
The river winds along the western side of the city in loose meanders, marking the boundary between Bashkortostan and Tatarstan.
Microdistricts
Residential neighbourhoods are built as large groups of apartment buildings around shared courtyards, which gives the map a repeated, rhythmic texture.
