Pad Idan Map Poster & Print
Pad Idan, also written Padidan, is a town in Naushahro Feroze District in Sindh, Pakistan. It lies on the broad, flat plain east of the Indus, in some of the most intensively irrigated farmland in the country. From above, the town is a compact cluster of streets and buildings in a landscape ruled by canals, watercourses and the straight edges of fields.
The main railway running north to south through Sindh passes the town, and its straight track is one of the clearest lines on the map. The land around Pad Idan grows cotton, wheat, sugarcane and fruit, watered by channels drawn from the Indus barrage system. This pattern of irrigation gives the surrounding countryside an orderly, linear texture.
A Pad Idan map poster brings out the geometry of the Sindh plain: a dense town core, the ruled line of the railway, and canals that run for long distances with barely a bend. It is a spare, graphic image, and a meaningful one for families from the district who now live in Karachi, the Gulf or elsewhere.
