Palavansathu lies on the outskirts of Vellore in northern Tamil Nadu, in the basin of the Palar River. It forms part of the wider urban area around the city, where older village settlements have gradually been absorbed into a growing suburban belt. On the map, it reads as a mix of new streets, older lanes and remaining open land.
Main roads connect the area to central Vellore and to the highways passing through the region. Between them, residential streets fill in block by block, some of them laid out in regular rows, others following older paths and field boundaries.
