The streets are organised around a main square in the traditional way of Brazilian interior towns. On the poster it anchors the grid at the centre of the composition.

Passagem Franca Map Poster & Print
Passagem Franca lies in the east of Maranhão, in the interior between the Amazonian north of the state and the drier country toward Piauí. From above, the town is a small, fairly regular grid of streets around a central square, surrounded by open land of scrub and fields. A few roads leave in straight lines toward neighbouring towns.
The name suggests a crossing point, and the town has served as a local centre for the rural area around it. Like many towns of the Brazilian interior, it grew around a church and square, with streets extending outward in blocks as the population increased. The map has no river front or coastline, just the town and the land.
A Passagem Franca map poster shows this plain structure with care: the central square, the rectangular blocks and the roads fading out into the countryside. In monochrome, the contrast between the settled grid and the empty land around it is strong. It is a simple, honest portrait of a small town in the Maranhão interior.

Block grid
Streets extend outward in fairly regular rectangular blocks. The pattern is easy to read and gives the map an orderly, calm structure.
Open surroundings
Beyond the last blocks, the land is sparsely settled and crossed by a few roads. This empty space frames the town and emphasises its compact shape.
