Peddapalli is the headquarters of the district of the same name in northern Telangana. From above, the town is laid out on fairly level Deccan ground. A main road and a railway line cut through it, and residential streets spread out between them in an informal pattern that loosens as it reaches the fields.
The surrounding district is a mix of farmland, tanks and industry, with large power and coal operations in the wider area. The town itself works as an administrative and market centre, serving the villages around it and the traffic that passes through on road and rail.
