Punta de Mata is a town in Monagas state in eastern Venezuela, the seat of Ezequiel Zamora municipality. It lies on the broad, flat plains of the eastern llanos, and from above the town is a grid of streets surrounded by open savanna, with roads running out across the level country.
The town grew with the oil and gas industry of northern Monagas, one of Venezuela's key producing areas. Industrial sites, access roads and facilities are scattered around the surrounding land, and the town serves as a residential and service base for workers and their families.
