The town grid
Purranque's central streets form a regular chequerboard of blocks, the planning pattern found in many southern Chilean towns founded or expanded in the age of the railway.

Purranque Map Poster & Print
Purranque is a town in Osorno Province, in the Los Lagos Region of southern Chile. It sits in the green agricultural country between the Pacific coastal range and the Andean lakes. The town is laid out as a tidy grid of blocks, and on the map that grid ends quickly, giving way to a patchwork of fields and farm roads.
Farming, and dairy farming in particular, defines this part of Chile, and the landscape around the town reflects it. Straight rural roads divide the pastures into large parcels, and small streams wind through the lowland. The main north–south transport routes of southern Chile run nearby and tie the town into the long spine of the country.
A Purranque map poster shows a clear, orderly town surrounded by open land, and that balance works well on paper. The grid gives a steady centre, while the looser pattern of rural roads and watercourses fills the edges with quieter lines.

Pasture parcels
Around the town, long straight farm roads mark out large fields, turning the countryside into a geometric pattern that stands out clearly in monochrome.
Lowland streams
Small rivers and creeks meander across the gently rolling ground, adding soft curves that set off the straight lines of the grid and the fields.
